    What is kickboxing?

Kickboxing combines punches and kicks under various rulesets. K-1 and Dutch kickboxing add low kicks; American kickboxing keeps kicks above the waist; fitness kickboxing strips out contact entirely and uses the movements for cardio.

Compared to Muay Thai, kickboxing usually excludes elbows, knees and clinch work — which means a faster, more boxing-influenced pace.

    Kickboxing cost in Sydney

$150–$250 per month at most Sydney gyms; boutique studios run higher. Drop-ins typically $20–$35. Combat Pass covers kickboxing classes at partner gyms across Sydney.

    Frequently asked questions

Kickboxing or Muay Thai — which is better for beginners?+

Both are excellent. Kickboxing tends to be slightly less intense for absolute beginners; Muay Thai is more complete as a striking art. Try both at different gyms with Combat Pass to see what suits you.

    Do I need to spar?+

Not to start. Sparring is gradually introduced after months of technical training, and many hobbyists train for years without sparring at all.
